An ideal violin teacher is an expert player, a skilled communicator, very patient yet always focused on high quality and numerous details, with a strong practical knowledge of psychology. It is very rare to find this combination in one person, but Dora possesses all of these qualities. She has the knowledge and skills to teach a young but serious beginner or a high level student. This is also extremely rare. As a violinist myself, I am very picky about violin teachers. Dora more than met my expectations, and my son loves her too. Dora is not only an accomplished violinist, she is also an exceptional violin teacher. She is friendly, patient, and makes all her classes fun. Dora fixed all of the bad techniques that my daughter had picked up with her prior teacher and taught her many of the fundamental skills needed for playing the violin. For example, her methods on teaching basic shifting and bow technique (such as detachè and hand positioning) were extremely helpful. In addition, my daughter’s vibrato, which Dora trained from start to finish, is highly praised by many other professional violinists. As a result of her teaching, my daughter is now a member of the best orchestra in her school and has received perfect NYSSMA scores. I will highly recommend Dora if you are looking for a violin teacher for your child.

Dora is a highly-skilled and professional musician and teacher who has helped progress my violin skills far beyond anything I thought I could achieve before I took lessons with her. She’s helped me with everything from re-establishing basic skills like bowing and vibrato that I previously learned haphazardly, to teaching me step-by-step how to play a difficult audition piece which allowed me to get into the top orchestra at my school. Her lessons are stress-free yet meticulous in teaching me how to achieve technicality and musicality with my playing.
